My gorgeous boy 💜 1999 - 2023

Hi, I’m Rebecca, a qualified Equine Sports Massage Therapist and QuadX® Equine Strength and Conditioning Coach.   I trained and qualified (with a Distinction) through The College of Animal Physiotherapy and Animal Rehabilitation and Health Academy.

I mainly cover Milton Keynes and surrounding areas, but I am happy to travel further afield.   I am fully insured and a member of the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT) and Animal Osteopathy Worldwide.

At the age of seven my parents took me for my first riding lesson (after I told everyone we were moving to the country so my Dad could buy me a pony!) and my love of horses began.  At fourteen I was lucky enough to have my own pony and I used to compete at local shows. It had always been my dream to work with horses, but my career took me down a different path and I found myself working for a prestigious Law firm. Having progressed from Office Junior to Legal Secretary, I was given the opportunity to train with the Institute of Legal Executives and, in 2002, I qualified as a Paralegal. I specialised in Civil and Property Litigation and enjoyed the challenges which each new case brought!

Horses have taught me so much, I have gained invaluable knowledge being around them for so many years, but the most important thing I have learnt is to “listen” to my horse. Horses do and will tell us when something is wrong – we just have to listen!

Having continued to own and ride horses throughout my legal career, I developed a keen interest in horse anatomy and biomechanics when my horse went lame on several occasions. The cause of each lameness was never discovered, but thankfully he came sound with rest and time. After the last occasion he started having regular massage treatments with my dressage instructor, who was also a qualified Equine Sports Massage Therapist. After seeing the difference in his way of going (stride length increased, stiffness had reduced and lateral work had improved) I decided it was time to  follow my dream and become a Massage Therapist.

Having gained my initial qualification through The College of Animal Physiotherapy, I decided to expand my knowledge and skillset, and I am currently undertaking a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Equine Exercise Rehabilitation with Animal Rehabilitation and Health Academy.   As part of the Diploma, I have recently qualified as a QuadX® Equine Strength and Conditioning Coach.  The QuadX® Method is a new and exciting method of equine strength and Conditioning which uses various exercises (both static and dynamic) to assess the horse/pony which enables the Coach to determine the horse/pony's weaknesses.  The same exercises are then utilised to systematically strengthen the horse/pony in the right way, and condition them for ridden work.  The Method can be integrated into the horse/pony's training programme to reduce the chance of injury and improve performance.
